We are frequently experiencing this issue too.
We have a shared folder that has a large file structure. We have found files missing, only when we have gone back to a project, to make amends or find relevant files.

"But it is far from solved. I just spent a significant amount of time on the chat feature with a rep. They cannot tell you why it happens. They cannot tell you how to prevent it. Bottom line, CC is unreliable at best when it comes to file storage. You are better off sharing files on Dropbox or Sharefile. This has caused significant downtime and frustration."
This exact thing just happened with me. The rep was polite etc, but they literally said:
"It happens during sync sometimes, there is no definite casue for this. "
This issue has caused us a large amount of wasted time and frustration.
